      Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between fiber laser and plasma cutting?

Fiber laser delivers higher precision, cleaner edges and faster cutting on thin to medium-gauge metal, while plasma is built for thick plate and heavy fabrication. Fiber suits intricate parts and tight tolerances; plasma is a rugged, versatile choice for mild steel, stainless and other conductive metals. The right choice depends on material, thickness, edge quality and production goals, and Warcom builds both.

What laser power (kW) do I actually need?

It depends on the materials and thicknesses you cut, your throughput targets and the type of work. Higher power cuts thicker plate and runs faster, but it isn't always the most cost-effective choice. The best balance of investment, productivity and operating cost comes from your real production mix, and Warcom's sales team can help you size the right W-FIBER configuration.

      What materials can W-FIBER cut?

W-FIBER cuts mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass and other alloys, depending on configuration, laser power and thickness. At 30 kW, maximum cutting capacity is 2.36" (60 mm) on mild and stainless steel, 1.97" (50 mm) on aluminum and 1.18" (30 mm) on brass and copper. Fiber is especially effective on reflective metals.
