FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which is better suited to the application: plasma cutting or fiber laser cutting?

Plasma cutting is particularly suited to thick materials and heavy-duty metal fabrication. Fiber laser cutting offers higher precision, edge quality, and cutting speed, especially on medium to low thicknesses. The choice depends on the material, thickness, required cut quality, part geometry, and production requirements.

Can plasma and oxy-fuel cutting be integrated on the same machine?

Yes. W-POWER machines can combine plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, with either a single MASTER torch or a MASTER torch with additional movable SLAVE torches running in parallel. This configuration enables repetitive cutting of multiple identical pieces.

What is the difference between the M-SERIES and S-SERIES models?

The M-SERIES features a monolithic structure with an integrated cutting table and is available in standard configurations up to 2,500 × 6,000 mm. The S-SERIES features modular ground-mounted guide rails and a separate cutting table with integrated fume extraction. It is designed for larger formats, with widths over 3 meters and lengths up to 24 meters.

Can tubes be cut with plasma cutting technology?

Yes. The W-TUBE SERIES is designed for processing round tubes up to Ø600 mm in diameter, as well as square and rectangular tubes and open profiles. Tube cutting can also be combined with 3D bevel technology. Flat sheet plasma cutting machines can also be configured for tube processing through specific adaptations designed according to customer requirements.

Can bevel (angled) cuts be performed?

Yes. The 3D Bevel Cutting Head adds 4th and 5th axes and allows programmable angled cuts of up to 48° in all working directions, with 360° rotation. It is designed for bevel cutting and weld preparation.
